An Ancestor was recently (July 2024) turned over to the Forensic Anthropology Laboratory from a private citizen. They are likely from somewhere in Michigan. Michigan State University will be handling the NAGPRA compliance.
These ancestors arrived at the FAL from police authorities and private citizens finding ancestral remains on their property. At some point, likely in the 1960s and 1970s, these individuals were included in former teaching collections and disassociated from case and donation paperwork. These ancestors are likely all from Michigan, though the information needed to tie them to specific cases is not available.

On an unknown date, as a result of plowing, an unknown individual discovered a bundle burial.

These individuals were initially listed on the MSU NAGPRA inventory, but were removed as they were not associated with the MSU Museum but with the Forensic Anthropology Lab. In 2019, it was decided to condense our efforts and only have one department providing NAGPRA listings.

On an unknown date, human remains were acquired by Kalamazoo resident, Donald Boudeman, who collected Southwest Native American material culture in the first half of the twentieth century. In July 1961, years after her husband's death, Donna Boudeman donated the human remains and parts of Mr. Boudeman's collection to the Michigan State University Museum.
