On an unknown date human remains were discovered and transferred from the Michigan State Policy to the Michigan State University Forensic Anthropology Laboratory for analysis.

These individuals were not originally listed on MSU's NAGPRA inventory, as they were not associated with the MSU Museum but with the Forensic Anthropology Lab. In 2019, it was decided to condense our efforts and only have one department providing NAGPRA listings.

On November 22, 1986, human remains were discovered behind the property. The Michigan State Police were alerted. The Police assigned a case number (38‐2792‐86) and brought the remains to Michigan State University for analysis by Anthropology Professor Dr. Norman Sauer.

20LP349, Scott Mound
In 1976, human remains were discovered by Glen J. Martin of Davidson, Michigan. The site was owned by Mr. Scott of Washburn Road. The remains were partially excavated by Mr. Martin. Mr. Martin then contacted the Dr. William Lovis, Michigan State University Museum Curator of Anthropology, while Dr. Lovis was excavating the Childers site. On December 4, 1976, Mr. Martin donated the remains to the Michigan State University Museum.

This individual was on the original NAGPRA inventory. No amendments were made with the 2019/2020 inventory update.

In 1977, human remains and funerary items were disturbed during the construction of a house basement. On March 24, 1977, the Michigan State University Museum conducted a salvage excavation to recover the remains and cultural items for the Museum.

These individuals were listed on the original NAGPRA inventory as MNI = 26, AFO = 177. After a review of the collection, the 2019/2020 inventory update has amended this listing to be an MNI = 29 and AFO = 122.
Documentation: We have the archaeological site report, site photos, individual burial reports (including inventories, skeletal summaries), field notes, maps, newspaper articles, survey forms, and a site inventory available upon request.
