New Mexico

We have 103 objects recorded as having been collected from New Mexico. 

Acoma Pueblo

We have seven objects that have been attributed to the Acoma Pueblo: pottery jars/bowls, a large bowl with frogs, and ceramic pots. 

Ancestral Pueblo

We have 6 objects that have been attributed to Ancestral Pueblo groups. These were collected from Luna, San Juan, and Taos Counties, as well as from New Mexico in general. These objects include a stone axe, stone celt, stone arrow shaft straightener, adze, scraper, and a pottery spindle whorl. 

Apache

We have one basket labeled as from the Mescalero Apache.

We have two baskets labeled as from the Jicarilla Apache.

Chimayo

We have one woven rug attributed to Chimayo.

Navajo

We have four objects attributed to the Navajo Nation: a basket, a leather and metal bow guard/bracelet, some pottery, and a ceramic wedding ceremonial bowl. 

Pueblo

We have four objects just listed as "Pueblo". They are all ceramic vessels, including a small bowl, a larger bowl, a vase with a handle, and a bird-shaped pitcher.

We have two objects labeled as from "Cochiti Pueblo". Both are drums.

We have one clay pot from Isleta.

We have one black pottery bowl from Santa Clara Pueblo. 

We have one pottery pitcher from Santo Domingo Pueblo.

We also have some pottery sherds labeled as "Syanyon Pueblo" collected from Lincoln County.

We have one ceramic figurine labeled as from Tesuque Pueblo.

 

Zuni

We have a ceramic bowl attributed to the Zuni, as well as a purple colored stone animal figurine.

 

Unattributed

The rest of the objects from New Mexico have not been attributed to a Tribe or Tribes as of yet. These objects include a sandstone pipe, celt, hammerstone, mano, stone figures, stone axes, ceramic bowls and vessels, projectile points, a quern and pestle, rug, and some very small archaeological collections.

They were recovered from Bernalillo, Grant, Guadalupe, Luna, McKinley, Rio Arriba, San Juan, Sandoval, Santa Fe, Socorro, and Taos Counties, as well as from New Mexico more generally.
