Repatriation Request Received

Michigan State University has received a repatriation request for unassociated funerary objects from Mackinac County, Michigan from the Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians. We have approved this request and will be submitting a draft Notice of Intended Repatriation shortly for publication in the Federal Register.

There is still time to submit a claim (up to 30 days after the publication of the Notice), if you believe that your Tribe is culturally affiliated with the above object. You can contact the NAGPRA Program Manager Dr. Jessica Yann at yannjess@msu.edu for more information or to make a claim.
