NAGPRA Policy Update

The federal government updated the regulations for how NAGPRA compliance should be carried out, which went into effect in January. While most of our policy aligned well with the updated regulations, the NAGPRA Program Manager made some edits for clarification, which were reviewed and approved by the NAGPRA Advisory Committee. The updated policy will be posted soon. One of the most substantial changes is the need to consult with Tribes prior to use of any of their cultural heritage objects that may be NAGPRA-eligible.
